Penn College Basketball Teams Set for Conference Play

Pennsylvania College of Technology basketball teams begin North Eastern Athletic Conference action with home games on Wednesday and road games Saturday and Sunday this week after going a combined 1-3 this past week.

Men’s Basketball
On Tuesday, in the first of a three-game road trip, Penn College lost at Sarah Lawrence College, 90-80. Tyree Vidal, of Williamsport, led Wildcat scorers with 14 points while Ben Sosa, of Loyalsock Township, added 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Penn College gave up 52 points in the paint and allowed 41 points off 31 turnovers.

Penn College continued to utilize its high-powered offense on Saturday at Penn State Lehigh Valley, but dropped to 1-2 after a 122-111 loss. Due to technical problems, no statistics immediately were available.

Right back in action Sunday at Alfred State University, Sosa sank two free throws with six seconds remaining to lift the Wildcats to an 86-85 win that evened their season record at 2-2. Vidal led Penn College scorers with 19 points. Erik Perry Jr., of Waldorf, Maryland, added 12 points. Alfred ended with 60 points in the paint.

In NEAC action this week: host defending champion Lancaster Bible College (0-2 overall through Sunday), 7 p.m. Wednesday; at Bryn Athyn (1-2 overall), 3 p.m. Saturday; at Penn State Abington (1-2 overall), 2 p.m. Sunday.

Last meeting vs. Lancaster Bible College: On Feb. 22, Penn College lost, 98-72. Kevin Laurence-El, of Milton, scored 22 points and Marquis Delgado, of Mansfield, had 16.

Last meeting vs. Bryn Athyn: On Feb. 20, Penn College lost, 92-80. Laurence-El scored 24 points and Delgado 18.

Last meeting vs. Penn State Abington: On Feb. 19, Penn College lost, 76-68. Thomas Ross, of Williamsport, scored 21 points and Laurence-El 18.

Statistically speaking through Sunday: Vidal leads Penn College in scoring through three games with a 16.0 average while Sosa is averaging 14.7 points and 9.3 rebounds, also through three games.

Women’s Basketball
In their only outing of the week, the Wildcats fell on Monday at Westminster College, 67-40, to drop to 0-2 overall. Alicia Ross, of Williamsport, scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Jane Herman, of Greencastle, scored 11 points. Penn College was outscored 34-16 in the second half and 36-6 in the paint for the game.

In conference action this week: host Lancaster Bible College (0-1 overall though Sunday), 5 p.m. Wednesday; at Bryn Athyn (2-1 overall), 1 p.m. Saturday; at Penn State Abington (2-1 overall), noon Sunday.

Last meeting vs. Lancaster Bible College: On Feb. 22, Penn College lost, 91-65. Alicia Ross, of Williamsport, and Danielle Mowery, of Shamokin, each scored 18 points.

Last meeting vs. Bryn Athyn: On Feb. 20, Penn College lost, 85-50. Ross scored 14 points.

Last meeting vs. Penn State Abington: On Feb. 19, Penn College lost, 91-48. Ross scored 22 points.

Statistically speaking through Sunday: Ross leads the Wildcats with averages of 16.5 points and seven rebounds per game.
