Penn College Basketball Teams Look to Keep Growing

Ending the first semester, Pennsylvania College of Technology young men’s and women’s basketball teams are off to a combined 2-12 start and both are seeking continued growth with mostly North Eastern Athletic Conference games after the holidays.

The men’s team, which is 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the NEAC, is averaging 91.4 points per game on offense while allowing an average of 103.4, a minus 12-point differential. The women’s squad, 0-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference, is averaging 47.1 points offensively and allowing 69.9, a minus 22.8-point differential.



Wildcat men have connected on .361 percent of their field goals, .316 percent of their 3-point field goals and .623 percent of their foul shots. They are averaging 46 rebounds per game to their opponents’ 47, and they are averaging 19.9 turnovers per game to their opponents’ 21.3.

Freshman Tyree Vidal, of Williamsport, leads the men’s team in scoring with 11.3 points per game while freshman Erik Perry Jr., of Waldorf, Maryland, is averaging 11.1 ppg and sophomore Ben Sosa, of Loyalsock Township, is averaging 11 ppg. Senior Thomas Ross, of Williamsport, leads the Wildcats in rebounding with a 7.3 per game average while freshman Jesse White, of Harrisburg, is averaging 5.7 per game and Sosa 5.6 per game.

On the women’s side, Penn College is making .291 percent of its field goals, .263 percent of its 3-point shots and .613 percent of its field goals. It is averaging 32.3 rebounds per game to its opponents’ 50.4 (minus 18.1 differential), and 20 turnovers per game to its opponents’ 16.1.

Senior Alicia Ross, of Williamsport, tops the Wildcats in scoring, with a 15-points-per-game average, and rebounds, with 6.4 per game. Sophomore Maddie Wenk, of Biglerville, is second in scoring with 10-points per game.

Action resumes on Jan. 5 for the men in nonconference play at Alvernia University and on Jan. 7 in NEAC action at Gallaudet University for the women.
