Nursing Faculty Member Reappointed to Commission Panel

Jane J. BenedictJane J. Benedict, associate professor of nursing at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was recently reappointed to a second term on the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission's evaluation review panel.

Benedict's second consecutive three-year term on the evaluation review panel will begin Jan. 1. The NLNAC is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as the national accrediting body for nursing-education programs both secondary and higher-degree.

Evaluation review panel members serve as the second level of accreditation review. In this role, Benedict is responsible for reviewing both the self-study materials and program-evaluator reports from schools seeking initial and continuing accreditation.

Benedict has served on the evaluation review panel for associate-degree nursing programs and on the combined evaluation review panel for associate and practical-nursing education programs. Benedict continues to serve as a site visitor for the accreditation commission.

Benedict has taught at Penn College for 15 years. She holds a master's degree in nursing from The Pennsylvania State University, and she earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from College Misericordia. She is a National League for Nursing ambassador and a certified nurse educator.
