Jane J. BenedictJane J. Benedict, associate professor of nursing at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was recently appointed to a three-year term on the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission's evaluation review panel.

She will serve on the associate-degree evaluation review panel from Jan. 1, 2006, to Dec. 31, 2008. The NLNAC is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as the national accrediting body for all types of nursing-education programs.

For the past four years, Benedict has been a site visitor for the commission. As part of the associate-degree evaluation review panel, she will receive reports from site visitors and help perform the second level of review for nursing-education programs. The evaluation review panel then makes recommendations on the accreditation status of each program to the commission.

"It's an honor to be appointed to this level of review," Benedict said. "I'm humbled by the Accrediting Commission's confidence in me as a reviewer. This appointment presents an exciting opportunity to be able to contribute to nursing education at a national level."

Benedict has taught at Penn College for 12 years. She holds a master's degree in nursing from The Pennsylvania State University, and she earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from College Misericordia.
