“Herbie, the Love Bug,” the iconic Volkswagen Beetle, will be on display in Penn College’s Madigan Library through the end of the semester. The car, used in “Disney on Ice” performances, is on loan from the William E. Swigart Jr. Automobile Museum in Huntingdon, among the supportive partners in the college’s automotive restoration technology major. Herbie, complete with expressive eyelashes and a hood that opens to reveal teeth and a tongue, was installed in the library to encourage literacy.
