Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro will host an open house from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, for those interested in nursing as a career. This event will feature tours of the campus, located just east of Wellsboro on Route 6; opportunities to speak with administration and faculty; and information about the application process, tuition and financial aid. Information about nursing programs of study at Penn College's main campus in Williamsport also will be available.

The North Campus Practical Nursing Program was developed for learners of all ages who want to improve their employment outlook in health care. The noncredit, vocational program is offered through Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Penn College. Students attend classes at the North Campus and have clinical experiences at Laurel Health System facilities.

There are excellent career opportunities in area hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, personal-care facilities and human-service organizations. The campus is accepting applications for the next class, which is scheduled to begin Jan. 7. Pre-admission (NET) testing will be held this summer; all applicants must be tested to be considered for admission.

The North Campus program is fully approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Students who successfully complete the program will be prepared to take the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-PN) for licensure as an LPN. Advance-placement credits earned upon passing the exam may be applied toward nursing degrees offered at Penn College's main campus.
