Nine Complete North Campus Nursing Assistant Program

Nine Tioga County high school students have completed nursing assistant classes at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro. Nine high school seniors from Tioga County recently completed the nursing assistant program at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus and subsequently passed the American Red Cross Competency Exam for certification as Certified Nurse Assistants.

The nine students have been attending nursing assistant classes since January. Classes and clinical experiences were held every Thursday to complete the 112-hour curriculum. Clinical experiences were completed at The Green Home, Wellsboro, with Paula Davis, registered nurse, serving as instructor.

Those completing the course are: Hannah Candelario, Britney Graves and Katelynd Martin, all of Wellsboro; Preslie Card, of Mainesburg; Tiffany Fritz, of Liberty; Kayla Fuller, ChaNiesha Morgan and Kayla Poirier, of Mansfield; and Sapphire MacCain, of Blossburg. Many of the graduating seniors plan to further their education in the nursing field.

CNAs are eligible to seek employment in nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, personal-care homes, hospitals, medical-supply stores and other health-related facilities.

The North Campus nursing assistant program is fully approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
