Eyewitness News on campusEyewitness News’ Kelly Choate attended Thursday's "Dream Week" address by Herman Boone, the motivational former Virginia high school football coach portrayed by Denzel Washington in "Remember the Titans." Boone, who led an integrated team to an undefeated season and a state title in 1971, spoke in Penn College's Klump Academic Center Auditorium. "These young men taught the world how to overcome the fear of diversity," he said of his players. "And they taught us to accept the soul of an individual, rather than to reject any individual based on the color of their skin." Choate’s report – which included comments by baking and pastry arts student Cynthia R. Setzer, of Port Allegany – will be part of the NBC affiliate's Black History Month coverage in February. The well-attended speech was also covered by Williamsport Sun-Gazette reporter Devin Bierly, whose article was published on the front page of Friday's sports section.
