New Scholarship Memorializes Computer Science Professor

A scholarship fund has been established at Pennsylvania College of Technology to honor the memory of an employee who succumbed to cancer in 2003.
Awards from the Bill Ward Memorial Scholarship will be made to students in Penn College's information technology associate- or bachelor-degree majors.
Ward began his career at the college in the fall of 1971 as an assistant professor of computer science. He also served the college in various computer technical-support positions over the years before returning to teaching in 1999. He died Oct. 5, 2003.
Ward's widow recently finalized documentation to establish the scholarship fund.
"Bill was so dedicated to teaching, he would be so pleased to know that, in some way, he is still helping students," said Jenny Ward.
Awards from the Bill Ward Memorial Scholarship will be made annually when the scholarship fund has reached an endowed level of $20,000. Applicants must be enrolled either full time or part time in one of Penn College's information technology majors, and they must be eligible for financial aid.
