Wildcat softball players and coaches, joined in the front rows of the ACC Auditorium by their beloved mascot, await the announcement by sportcaster Will Haskett ...... and react excitedly when Penn College is added to the regional bracket and game footage is shown. After winning the North East Athletic Conference title on Saturday and improving to 19-3, the Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team moves on to regional action against top-ranked host Virginia Wesleyan University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at 10 a.m. Friday when, as the No. 6 seed, they will face Virginia Wesleyan (37-5-1).

“We are beyond excited and very grateful for this experience!” coach Angie Hunley said after Monday afternoon’s selection show. “This team is making history and blazing a trail!”

She joined her squad and well-wishers in the Klump Academic Center Auditorium to watch the announcement live. This is Penn College's first trip to the NCAA tournament.

Virginia Wesleyan won back-to-back national championships in 2017 and 2018 and is led by Jessica Goldyn, who reportedly leads Division III in steals and is second with 66 hits.

An opening Wildcat win in the double-elimination tournament would pit it against the winner between third-seeded Moravian (29-1) and fourth-seeded Farmingdale State (17-5) at 10 a.m. Saturday, while a Penn College first-game loss would send it back into action at 4 p.m. Friday against the loser of a game between second-seeded TCNJ (23-3) and fifth-seeded Gettysburg (11-3).

Friday's game will be livestreamed; the remainder of the tournament schedule will be determined Saturday afternoon.
