A motorcycle ride through scenic countryside will benefit Pennsylvania College of Technology's Student Scholarship Fund.

The first Scholarship Ride will be held Saturday, April 24. Sponsored by the Penn College Motorsports Association, the ride is open to all motorcycle enthusiasts. Registration will be from 8 to 10 a.m. that day, at Penn College's main campus in Williamsport. Participants will gather at the Building Technologies Center parking lot, off of Park Street.

Entrance fee, which includes a picnic-style lunch, is $15 per person. The 86-mile ride begins at 10 a.m. (Rain date is set for Saturday, May 1.)

After the road journey, a judging contest will be open to all entrants. Categories include: "Rat," "Antique/Classic," "Street Cruiser," "Sportster" and "Touring." Prizes will be given to all winners.

David Probst, instructor of computer-aided drafting and design technology at Penn College, is coordinating the event.

"What better way to spend a good time together than enjoying a ride through the beautiful Pennsylvania countryside and knowing you're helping students achieve their goals of higher education," Probst commented.

The drafting instructor hopes at least 200 motorcyclists will participate and is optimistic that this initial scholarship ride will become a yearly tradition at the College.

Registration forms can be obtained by contacting Probst at Penn College (570) 326-3761, ext. 7372, or at home, (570) 321-0483. Those registering by April 19 will receive a free T-shirt. Motorcyclists also can register at the College the morning of the event.
