Motivational Speaker to Address Drug and Alcohol Abuse

Motivational speaker Dan Davis will present "B.A.M. It's Your Choice," a program about drug and alcohol abuse, at Pennsylvania College of Technology on April 6.
The free presentation, which is being co-sponsored by the Nathaniel Project at Penn College, the West Branch Drug and Alcohol Abuse Commission, the College and Community Coalition and the Office of Student Activities, will begin in the Klump Academic Center Auditorium at 8 p.m. It is open to all Penn College students, faculty and staff; Lycoming College students; and West Branch Drug and Alcohol Abuse Commission staff.
Davis is an internationally known voice in the areas of health, prevention and wellness. His dynamic programs are proactive, interactive and offer a positive approach to prevention.
Traveling from Russia to China and El Salvador to Ireland, Davis has spread his message around the world by becoming a youth-group leader in many countries. He also has been featured in national substance-abuse-prevention films such as "My Choice: Drug Free" and "What's Wrong with a Beer?"
As a recovering addict, Davis has worked extensively with high schools, universities, criminal-justice systems and drug-abuse treatment centers. His presentations focus on education, drug-free youth, youth leadership, parenting, team-building and positive role-modeling by both youth and adults.
Davis has won many awards including Program of the Year (substance abuse), the Distinguished Human Service Award and Outstanding Motivational Program from the New York State Prison System.
Davis, who resides in Potsdam, N.Y., with his wife and daughter, is co-founder and executive director of Youth Educating Society Inc. He has spent 15 years as a high-school educator and 15 years as an international prevention-education specialist.
