Men's Soccer Team Goes 4-0 to Fuel Wildcats' Week

Go, Wildcats!Led by the men's soccer team, which won all four of its matches, Pennsylvania College of Technology fall sports teams posted a combined 11-3 won-loss mark last week. FLASHBACK Men's Soccer The team opened the week on Monday with a 6-0 win over Penn State Schuylkill. Playing outstanding defense, the Wildcats didn't allow Schuylkill any shots on goal. Offensively for Penn College, Tristan Smith (Bermuda) scored two goals. In an 11-0 win over Penn State Scranton on Wednesday, the Wildcats took 63 shots and limited Scranton to two. Chris Brennan (New Hope) and Tom Walters (Lewistown) each scored two goals and Pat Masango (Harrisburg) had two assists. On Saturday, Brennan scored in overtime as the Wildcats edged Penn State Mont Alto, 2-1, and moved to 4-0 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference. On Sunday, Smith scored the lone goal of the match in a 1-0 Penn College win over Washington Adventist that improved its overall record to 7-2. In the Week One poll of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, Penn College is ranked No. 7 nationally. Washington Adventist was ranked No. 6.

Women's Soccer Penn College dropped to 1-3 overall after a 9-0 loss to NCAA Division III Misericordia University. On Sunday, the team dropped a 2-0 decision to Washington Adventist and fell to 1-4. The Wildcats are ranked No. 19 in the latest USCAA national poll. Team Tennis Shane Burridge (Ephrata) and Rob Kemrer (Milton) were double winners for Penn College in a 7-2 victory Monday over Penn State Hazleton that evened the team's record at 2-2. Burridge, Kemrer, Danni Trout (Harrisburg) and Rachel Emmons (Washington, N.J.) were double winners in an 8-1 victory Wednesday over Penn State Wilkes-Barre and Burridge and Kemrer completed a perfect week with singles and doubles wins in a 6-3 victory over Penn State Mont Alto on Thursday. Women's Volleyball On Tuesday, the team edged Penn State Wilkes-Barre, 3-2, with a thrilling 15-12 win in the fifth and deciding game. Freshman Samantha Davis (North Apollo) had a season-high 14 kills, five blocks and eight block assists, and freshman Paula Karine Monteiro (Rio de Janeiro) had a season-high 13 kills, 16 digs and four block assists. On Saturday, the Wildcats split at home, beating Penn State York, 3-0, and losing to Penn State Mont Alto, 3-2. On Sunday, Penn College topped Penn State Brandywine and Penn State Schuylkill, both by 3-0 scores, to improve to 8-4 overall and 5-1 in the PSUAC.
