Math Professor to Be Honored in 'Who's Who'

Nancy C. Bowers, associate professor of mathematics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, will be honored for the second consecutive year in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers."
Bowers' biography will be printed in the 10th edition of the book, to be published later this year, and also appeared in the book's ninth edition.
Teachers whose biographies appear in the book have been nominated by a former student. Students listed in "Who's Who Among American High School Students," "Who's Who Among American High School Students Sports Edition" and "The National Dean's List" are invited to nominate a former teacher who has contributed significantly to their success and growth.
Bowers has taught mathematics at Penn College for 23 years. Before joining the faculty (initially at Penn College forerunner Williamsport Area Community College), she taught math for nine years in the Williamsport Area School District.
Bowers earned the Master Teacher award, the highest honor Penn College conveys upon its faculty, in 1990. In addition to her classroom duties, she has been involved with the college's SMART Girls (Science and Mathematics Applications in Real-World Technologies for Girls) initiative since its beginning, is a mentor for new faculty, and has served on numerous committees, including chairing the time capsule committee for the Klump Academic Center rededication. She has also coordinated efforts with the college library to build its math collection.
She received a master's degree from The Pennsylvania State University, a bachelor's degree from Lycoming College and later earned an associate degree in accounting from Williamsport Area Community College.
