Master Certification Renewed for Four Automotive Program Areas

Four automotive programs at Pennsylvania College of Technology have been recertified for five years following on-site visits by teams of evaluators from the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation.
NATEF is an independent, nonprofit organization that evaluates the structure and resources of technician-training programs using nationally accepted standards developed by the automotive industry. Qualified programs are recommended for certification by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.
The Automotive Technology, Automotive Technology/Ford ASSET and Automotive Technology/Toyota Emphasis majors at Penn College had their Master Certification renewed in all eight ASE areas: automatic transmission and transaxle; brakes; electrical/electronic systems; engine performance; engine repair; heating and air conditioning; manual drive train and axles; and suspension and steering. The College's Collision Repair program had its Master Certification renewed after a separate on-site visit by NATEF representatives.
"All four program areas were renewed for five years with no major deficiencies," said Colin W. Williamson, dean of the School of Transportation Technology at Penn College. "We had four major areas Master-recertified in two weeks. The renewed certifications are a tribute to the faculty, who work hard to ensure these programs meet national standards of excellence."
