Students and faculty from Pennsylvania College of Technology visited Loiederman Soltesz Associates%E2%80%99 National Harbor Project in 2006. Three alumni from the group are now employed by the company, and two students still at Penn College have served as interns for the firm.A land-development-engineering company based in Rockville, Md., has established a scholarship fund targeting civil engineering technology students at Pennsylvania College of Technology while continuing to offer a variety of support for students.

The Loiederman Soltesz Scholarship fund will provide an annual award of $1,000 for a third-year student enrolled full time in Penn College's civil engineering technology bachelor-degree major. Students chosen to receive the scholarship award will also be given consideration for paid summer internships.

"It's very exciting to be in this partnership with Penn College," said James A. Soltesz, president and CEO of Loiederman Soltesz Associates Inc. "Assisting students with opportunities for growth, as well as employing graduates, is a genuine pleasure. LSA is committed to providing students and graduates with interesting projects and a great place to work."

Debra M. Miller, director of corporate relations at Penn College, said that, over the past several years, Loiederman Soltesz Associates has provided a variety of other support for students in the college's civil engineering technology bachelor- and associate-degree majors.

"In addition to the scholarship, LSA invites Penn College's civil engineering technology students to visit their facility each year to learn more about living in an urban area and tour some of the projects they are working on, such as the National Harbor Project on the Potomac River, just outside Washington, D.C.," Miller said, adding that LSA considers interns for additional tuition support.

She noted that three Penn College alumni who visited the Loiederman Soltesz Associates' National Harbor Project on a class trip in 2006 are now employed by the firm, and two current Penn College students who visited on that trip have served internships with LSA.
