Mark Shaffer Named ‘Student-Athlete of the Week’

Mark Shaffer of Hanover, a graduate of South Western High School , has been named Pennsylvania College of Technology’s “Student-Athlete of the Week” for Sept. 25-30.

Shaffer, a sophomore majoring in heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology, has compiled a 5-1 pitching record with a 1.20 earned run average in 27 innings of work for the college’s baseball team.

Wildcats coach Chris Howard characterized Shaffer as the leader on the team and his go-to guy on the mound.

“Mark has done everything I have asked him and more. The younger members of the team see his work ethic and the success that comes with it, which makes them work harder,” Howard said.

Complete rosters and season schedules are available on the college’s Athletics Web site.
