Lisette N. Ormsbee Named Director of Penn College Library


Lisette N. Ormsbee has been named the new director of the Pennsylvania College of Technology Library.

Dr. Davie Jane Gilmour, College president, appointed her to the position following a two-part nationwide search. Ormsbee who comes to the position with more than 25 years of public-service experience will report to Dr. Henryk Marcinkiewicz, associate vice president for academic affairs.

“I am very pleased to appoint Lisette Ormsbee to the Director of the Library position,” Dr. Gilmour said. “She brings excellent leadership skills, outstanding interpersonal skills and a wonderful professionalism to the job. In her interim role, she made significant strides with all aspects of the position and I have no doubt she will provide commendable leadership into the future.”

Ormsbee earned her Master of Library and Information Science degree at Brigham Young University. She studied cultural anthropology at the University of Utah, and majored in French at St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn. She is working on her second master’s degree at the Pennsylvania State University, studying adult education.

She has had rich professional experience working for over 17 years in public, corporate and academic library settings, as well as having worked for 13 years as Information/Passenger Services Agent for British Airways at JFK International Airport in New York.

Her management experience includes having created and run a nonprofit corporate library that served an organization’s headquarters staff of 300, as well as field offices in 28 countries. She also brings to the position 15 years of experience teaching and conducting professional presentations.

Ormsbee is proficient in the development and integration of instructional technologies and is committed to continuous improvement of library services with technology. She is an excellent communicator, a supporter of continuing education and an active participant in professional library associations.

Very importantly, Dr. Marcinkiewicz adds, Lisette has a forward and thoughtful vision of the new library on campus as being foremost a place to serve the students.

Lisette, her husband, Charles; and daughter, Sonia; reside in Milton.
