The turnout for the group's Sky Lantern Release was about double that of last year, when wind and brisk November temperatures posed less-than-ideal conditions. "We were so excited to see so many people come out and support THON!" said Kelsey J. Maneval, vice president of the student organization. "It was much warmer this year, which we believe was a huge benefit. Because it was so cold last year, we actually planned to have it earlier – and I think we got blessed with one of the most perfect and beautiful fall nights." The fundraising effort culminates in THON Weekend (Feb. 19-21), a 46-hour dance marathon in Penn State's Bryce Jordan Center.  Since 1977, THON has raised more than $127 million for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. Interested contributors can visit the THON Web page, click “Donate Now” and select "Penn College of Technology" as their organization of choice.
