On Saturday, the Penn College women’s basketball team honored lone senior Alison K. Van Metter prior to the start of its game against Penn State Hazleton. Van Metter, an occupational therapy assistant major from Saylorsburg, is a three-year member of the squad and team captain for the past two. Off the court, Van Metter is a prominent member of the Student-Athletic Advisory Council, helping to run community-service projects and fundraisers, is a member of the Occupational Therapy Assistant Club and serves as a Presidential Student Ambassador. She is also a standout academically, having been named to the Penn State University Athletic Conference All-Academic team. After graduation, Van Metter plans to attend graduate school for occupational therapy and then begin a career as an occupational therapist in a pediatric cancer unit or pediatric prosthetics center.
