Swaggalicious, the winner of the Penn College Intramural Flag Football League for the past three years, hit the road Wednesday to play its Lock Haven University counterpart. The night was extremely chilly and, unfortunately for the Penn College team, its offense was just as cold. After some back-and-forth possessions at the start, Lock Haven connected on a 65-yard pass play (and the extra point) to take a 7-0 lead. Penn College had its chances, according to intramural assistant Jeremy R. Bottorf, but the offensive line had a hard time containing the home team’s blitzes. Lock Haven scored 13 more points in the last five minutes of the half, thanks, in part, to a ball that bounced off four Penn College defenders before landing in the hands of an opposing tight end. LHU literally took a handoff that was meant for the Penn College running back and returned it for a touchdown on the next possession, which saw LHU go up 20-0 as the clock ticked down. Jah-Re Tisdale intercepted a deep Lock Haven pass and returned it for 75 yards, but was stopped short of the end zone when the half ended. Penn College’s momentum seemed to turn at the start of the second half, converting a few first downs before its drive stalled. Lock Haven scored once more, then Penn College’s Joe Falkowski took a quarterback sneak 50 yards downfield to put his never-say-die team on the board, 27-6. Tisdale and Falkowski were joined on the roster by Gabe Nepita-Mejia, Jaron Graver, Tony Williams, Raymond Malaver, Dan Gol, Jahmas Hamilton, Jim Brumbaugh, DaQuann Mason, Michael Rodarmel, Leo Mirolli, Jeff Smith and Alex Garcia. “Intramural tournaments will continue to run until the end of the semester, so stop in the Field House today and sign up,” said Bottorf, who also provided the photos. “You will see Penn College Intramurals really does have something for everyone!”
