Donations to support international students at Pennsylvania College of Technology have resulted in the creation of a new scholarship fund at the college.

Penn College's Academic Affairs Office recently completed work to create the International Student Scholarship Fund. The fund will generate an annual award of $500.

The first award from the fund will be made for the 2008-09 academic year. The selection criteria require the successful applicant to be a student visiting the United States on an educational visa, enrolled full time in the second year of any major at Penn College, with a minimum grade-point average of 2.5.

Awards from the International Student Scholarship Fund may be used to defray costs for books, tools, instructional supplies and other eligible educational expenses. International students whose study is paid for by their employers are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.

"This scholarship is another opportunity to support our international students," said Henryk R. Marcinkiewicz, associate vice president for academic affairs. "It underscores the college's commitment to serving all students."

Penn College enrolled approximately 30 students studying under educational visas for the Fall 2007 semester.

Eligible students may file applications for the International Student Scholarship between Dec. 1 and Feb. 1. Applications may be filed online . A printable application also is available at the Web site.

Anyone interested in making a gift to the International Student Scholarship Fund may do so by mail to the Penn College Institutional Advancement Office, One College Avenue, Williamsport, PA 17701-5799; or online.
