Brian L. Bitner, a student in the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technology bachelor-degree major at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship by the National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers.

Members of the association's Susquehanna Valley Chapter recently traveled to Penn College to congratulate the Greencastle resident on his accomplishment. Competition for the scholarship came from throughout the East Coast, where fuel oil is a popular choice for home heating.

The National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers is the only industry association devoted exclusively to education and the advancement of oil heat service professionals. The group will hold its 51st Annual Convention and Trade Show from May 11-14 in Hartford, Conn.

In his winning essay, Bitner answered the question, "What are your goals and why do you wish to better yourself within the oil heating industry?" The scholarship is offered annually and is open to all students. For details on the scholarship and how to apply, visit NAOHSM.

Bitner, who has been named to the dean's list at Penn College four times, hopes to start his own HVAC company after earning his bachelor's degree.
