Bower Jr., horticulture instructor)Two associate-degree horticulture students at Pennsylvania College of Technology each received $1,250 scholarships during the Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery Association Foundation's recent member-celebration dinner at the Lancaster Convention Center.

The scholarships awarded to Kelsey R. Bromm, of Fountainville, and Matthew D. Lowe, of Lancaster honor the students' academics, ability to apply knowledge gained to real-life situations, personality and willingness to continue in the green industry.

Lowe is enrolled in the landscape/horticulture technology: landscape emphasis major and Bromm in the landscape/horticulture technology: plant production emphasis major. Both plan to graduate in May 2012.

Carl J. Bower Jr., a horticulture instructor in the School of Natural Resources Management and a member of the PLNA Board of Directors, was on hand for the awarding of the scholarships.

The Harrisburg-based PLNA Foundation provides resources to encourage research, reward scholarship, and promote the values and benefits of ornamental horticulture.
