Back-and-forth battle a crowd-pleaser Mixing it up Sizing up the competition Friday night's Homecoming Powder Puff Game was an amazing seesaw matchup, but, in the end, College West/Rose Street ended up on top 21-14 over The Village/Campus View. The Village/Campus View team started the scoring with a touchdown pass from Jessica Houser to Kat Potacek. Step Karoulas then ran for a touchdown and the tie. The game remained even until the second quarter, when Houser again hit Potacek for a touchdown to put The Village/Campus View up 14-7. To start the second half, Karoulas ran down the sidelines to score again for College West/Rose Street and tie the game at 14-14. The Village/Campus View squad then started a drive of its own and was on the doorstep to score, but Caroline Matter intercepted at the 1-yard line to give the ball back to College West/Rose Street. Desiree Buffington then connected on a pass to Melinda Fake to give College West/Rose Street the lead, 21-14. The celebration after the touchdown was so electrifying that the lights went out and the game was delayed for about 20 minutes. When the lights came back on, The Village/Campus View team started a drive, but was stopped short of a first down and College West/Rose Street took the game. The winners will play a team of girls living off campus at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, on the soccer field. Big "Thank you's" go out to Jason Eiswerth and Bill Confair for refereeing the game, to Derek Botts for running the clock, and to Keith Scheib and Andrew Johnston for working the chains.
