Historical flags displayed at Madigan Library for Constitution Week.An educational display of American flags, tracing the progression from mere banner to majestic national symbol, is among the Constitution Week events scheduled at Pennsylvania College of Technology from Sept. 15-19.

The historical "Hall of Flags" will be presented by members of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge 1057, Jersey Shore, from 4 to 6 p.m. Constitution Day Wednesday, Sept. 17, the 221st anniversary of our nation's founding document in the college's Madigan Library. Light refreshments will be served.

On loan from the Jersey Shore Elks lodge, the 'Hall of Flags' exhibit impressively stands beneath the library skylight.Leading the ceremony will be Craig R. Packard, the Elks' district deputy grand exalted ruler, assisted by Theodore J. Szuhaj, past exalted ruler of the Elks lodge.

"The Hall of Flags at our library will be a sight to see. The United States flag as it is now and as it was along the tumultuous path of our past will be represented," said Matthew David, assistant director, library services. "Like the anthem says, our country's history and future is "˜broad' and "˜bright.' We live in a huge nation with terrific challenges. The evolution of our flag mirrors the evolution of our country, but no matter which way the wind blows, the American flag waves proudly."

The library reference desk will be the site for voter registration through the end of September; students who sign up and who take part in the Student Government Association Senate election from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, will receive a patriotically decorated cookie or brownie, courtesy of the Student Activities Office.

Teams of students can share $300 in prizes during "Double Jeopardy," a Constitution-trivia game to be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, in Penn's Inn on the second floor of the Bush Campus Center.
