Plastics SourceNet, administered through the Plastics Innovation & Resource Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology, received grant funding to provide a series of training courses for central Pennsylvania plastics manufacturers and their employees.

Plastics SourceNet received a $39,810 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry through the Central Pennsylvania Workforce Development Corp. The funds support employee training for members of the Central Pennsylvania Plastics Industry Partnership. The partnership is a coalition of plastics manufacturers from Centre, Clinton, Columbia, Lycoming, Mifflin, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union counties that work together to strategize and improve the industry’s collective competitiveness.

A series of courses, ranging from introductory and advanced courses in injection molding, extrusion, rotational molding and thermoforming, to courses in programmable logic controls and hydraulics/pneumatics, has been developed by PIRC and approved by CPWDC based on training needs of Plastics Industry Partnership members.

Established and financed by a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, Plastics SourceNet is a full-service resource supporting Pennsylvania’s manufacturing competitiveness in the plastics industry.

The resources of Plastics SourceNet consist of a network of consultants, universities, colleges and other independent resources coordinated through the efforts of the Plastics Innovation & Resource Center at Penn College.
