Thirteen-time PGA Tour winner David Toms will headline the 29th annual Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation Golf Classic, scheduled for Monday, June 29, at the Williamsport Country Club.
Proceeds from the event, sponsored by Fisher Mining Co., benefit the Penn College Foundation Golf Classic Scholarship, a quasi-endowed scholarship fund exceeding $1 million.
Since 1990, more than $550,000 has been awarded from the fund to Penn College students.
During the Foundation Golf Classic, Toms will conduct a morning clinic, speak at a players-only lunch, and address players and guests at a reception and dinner on the Penn College campus following the tournament.
A member of the PGA Tour since 1992, Toms has a top 10 finish in each of golf’s four majors, including a victory at the 2001 PGA Championship. The former All-American and Southeastern Conference Player of the Year at Louisiana State University has been a member of three Ryder Cup and four Presidents Cup teams. His most recent victory was the 2011 Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.
Toms created the David Toms Foundation in 2003 to help underprivileged, abused and abandoned children through funding programs designed to enhance a child’s character, self-esteem and career possibilities. In 2013, he opened the David Toms Academy, a 60-acre, state-of-the-art training center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Operated by his foundation, the center includes a game-improvement facility for juniors and avid golfers.
Toms lives in Shreveport with his wife, Sonya, and their two children, Carter and Anna.
