In support of a catalog documenting its 10th anniversary celebration, The Gallery at Penn College has received a $5,250 grant from a private foundation based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The Elizabeth Firestone Graham Foundation awarded funding to support the gallery’s “Take Ten” catalog, created as part of the special anniversary exhibition running through Oct. 9.

The foundation is dedicated to fostering awareness and appreciation of contemporary visual art, primarily through the support of catalogs and other publications produced by organizations outside the nation's cultural centers that document exhibitions of work by emerging or under-recognized artists.

The “Take Ten” catalog documents the 10th anniversary exhibition at The Gallery at Penn College.Designed by Ainsley R. Bennett, a senior in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s graphic design major and resident of Montoursville, the “Take Ten” catalog showcases works, artist statements and biographies of the 25 artists featured in the current exhibit. Also included are images from past exhibits since the gallery opened in 2006 and a welcome from gallery director Penny Griffin Lutz.

The catalog will be available (while supplies last) at the opening reception, set for 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30, and will be shared with the artists and shipped to galleries and museums across the country.

Exhibiting artists for “Take Ten” represent each of the 10 years the gallery has been open.

They are: Anila Quayyum Agha, James Arendt, Morgan Craig, Karen Kettering Dimit, Maureen Drdak, Cynthia Fisher, Jason Godeke, Timothy Hawkesworth, Cynthia Hron, Lauren Kinney, Shalya Marsh, Ned Martin, Amanda McCavour, Timothy McCoy, Gary Mesa-Gaido, Antonio Puri, Tammie Rubin, Rachel Sager, Meredith Setser, Ceil Sturdevant, Cheryl Tall, Daryl Thetford, Miguel Tio, Patrick Vincent and Renee Zettle-Sterling.

The Gallery at Penn College is on the third floor of Madigan Library and is open 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays; 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. The gallery will be closed Sunday, Sept. 4.

In addition to serving as an educational resource for Penn College students and a cultural asset to the college and community, the gallery is dedicated to promoting art appreciation through exhibitions of contemporary art.
