The campus community enjoyed a full slate of sports Aug. 30, observing "Opening Day" for fall athletics before celebrating Pennsylvania College of Technology "Pack the Park Night" at Williamsport's historic Bowman Field. More than 250 fans watched the Wildcat men’s soccer team defeat Davis College, 5-0, on the Athletic Field. There were free hot dogs, soda and chips, and all fans had the choice of a "hand clapper" or a "thunder stick." At halftime, the fall sports teams (women's soccer, women's volleyball, tennis, golf and cross country) were introduced; fans were encouraged to attend at least one of each team's home games or matches and cheer the Wildcats to victory. Penn College contributed to the 2,346 spectators on hand for the Williamsport Crosscutters' 4-2 victory over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. Played out on a gorgeous pre-autumn evening, the event included giveaways, contests and a visit from the Phillie Phanatic.
