Franklin County Builders Association Offers Scholarship

The Franklin County Builders Association will begin awarding scholarships to Pennsylvania College of Technology students in Fall 2004.

The Franklin County Builders Association Scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student in the School of Construction and Design Technologies who maintains a full-time residence in Franklin or Fulton counties, and who demonstrates financial need and academic quality.

“Our association recognizes the importance of having a trained industry workforce available to support the growing needs of the consumer,” said Jackie Martin, president of Franklin County Builders Association. “By establishing a Franklin County Builders Association annual scholarship, our association is taking one more step toward ensuring that a prepared workforce is available for future construction industry requirements. Additionally, like so many of our programs, this scholarship fund is one more way of giving back to the community. The Franklin County Builders Association looks forward to continuing to build upon our partnership with Penn College.”

The $1,000 scholarship will be available to defray the cost of tuition, fees, books, housing and required supplies. The annual award will be split between the fall and spring semesters. While the FCBA will begin by awarding one scholarship per year, it may add more in the future.

Students enrolled in the Construction Carpentry, Construction Management, Building Construction Technology-Masonry Emphasis, Building Construction Technology or Residential Construction Technology and Management majors are eligible for the scholarship.

This is the second annual award scholarship fund established by the FCBA. Last year the Women’s Council of the FCBA began a scholarship fund to benefit those students from Franklin and Fulton counties.
