Fourth Annual Scholarship Ride Set for May 5 at Penn College

Motorcyclists and car enthusiasts will gather again at Pennsylvania College of Technology on May 5 for the Fourth Annual Motorcycle Scholarship Ride and Car Cruise, an event benefiting student scholarships.

Last year's ride raised $4,500 for the Penn College Scholarship Fund and featured participation by 225 motorcycles, 50 cars and more than 500 people. To date, the popular event has raised more than $8,000 for scholarships.

The ride will begin at the Field House on the Penn College main campus in Williamsport and wind its way through the beautiful Northcentral Pennsylvania countryside. Riders may pre-register or register on the day of the ride.

The entrance fee includes free coffee and doughnuts during the morning registration; a free ox roast (additional meals can be purchased for $5 each); a free T-shirt (for entrants who pre-register by April 27); entertainment; route sheets; a dice run; and door prizes.

Judged competitions will be held for bikes and cars. Bike classes to be judged include Classic, Dresser, Cruiser, Trike (American and Foreign), Sport, and Rat.

Car trophies to be awarded include, Best of Show, Competition, Muscle Cars (through 1979), Muscle Cars (Late Model), Classics, Street Rods and Custom, Stock and Antique, Trucks, Low Rider Cars and Trucks, and Imports.

The rain-or-shine event begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. (until 1 p.m.), followed by an interfaith service at 9:30 a.m.

The ride will depart at 10 to 10:30 a.m. The car and cycle show will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., with judging beginning at 1:15 p.m.
