Four Penn College Teams Taste Victory

Pennsylvania College of Technology golf, men’s and women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball teams all were victorious over the past week.

At the Lebanon Valley College Dutchmen Fall Invitational on Monday, Penn College placed eighth in a 17-team field with a 320 team score. Lebanon Valley Blue took top honors with a 301. Individually for the Wildcats, Eli Dyer, of Wallingford, Connecticut, tied for eighth place after shooting a 75. Also for Penn College, Ben Fails, of Hummelstown, shot an 81; Ned Baumbach, of Elizabethtown, and Brian Whelan, of Cresco, 82s; and Dan Pivirotto, of State College, an 88 in a field of 83 where a 70 was the low score.
Led by freshman Jordan Wise, of McClure, who medaled with a 79, the Wildcats topped a six-team field on Wednesday at Valley Country Club in an event hosted by Penn State Hazleton with a 329 score. Austin Moscariello, of New Columbia, tied for second with an 80 while Dyer and Zach Nelsen, of Clifton Park, New York, tied for fifth with 85s.
Men’s/Women’s Cross-Country
At the Lancaster Bible College Invitational on Wednesday, Penn College didn’t field a full men’s or women’s team. Individually, however, Wildcats David Carlson, of Elizabethtown, placed 34th in 37:30.5 and Hayden Beiter, of Williamsport, 36th in 37:40.3 in a 47-runner men’s field over an 8K course and Nikki Crow, of Elizabethtown, placed 24th in 31:53.9 and Annikea Miller, of Lancaster, 27th in 32:36.5 among 48 runners in the 6K women’s race.
Men’s Soccer
Hosting Wells College on Wednesday in NEAC play, Penn College won, 2-1, as Austin Dowrick, of Olney, Maryland, scored his fourth goal of the season and Quinn Cleis, of Elizabethtown, his first. Penn College led in shots, 20-15 (7-3 on goal). Wildcats goalkeeper Malcolm Kane, of Ardsley, had a pair of saves.
On Saturday at Cazenovia College, the Wildcats, without five starters, suffered their first conference loss of the season, 2-0. Penn College led in shots, 11-7 (7-6 on goal), and corner kicks, 5-1, while dropping to 4-6 overall.
In North Eastern Athletic Association action this week: Host Wilson College (3-3-1 overall, 1-1 NEAC through Saturday), 1 p.m. Saturday; host Lancaster Bible College (4-4-2 overall, 1-0-1 NEAC through Saturday), noon Sunday.

On Tuesday in NEAC action at home, Dominique Brown, of Benton, scored a pair of goals and added an assist and Hailee Hartman, of Lampeter, had a goal and an assist in a 5-1 win over Wells College. Penn College led in shots, 19-4 (12-3 on goal), and in corner kicks, 6-2.
At Cazenovia College on Saturday, Hartman scored twice but the Wildcats lost, 3-2 in overtime, to drop to 3-5-1 overall and 1-2 in the NEAC. Penn College led in shots, 21-14 (21-11 on goal). Each team had three corner kicks.
In North Eastern Athletic Association action this week: Host Wilson College (0-8 overall, 0-2 NEAC through Saturday), 3 p.m. Saturday; host Lancaster Bible College (2-6-1 overall, 1-1 NEAC through Saturday), 2 p.m. Sunday.

Hosting SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, Penn College earned its first NEAC win of the season after three losses, 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 14-25, 25-22). Coldsmith led the Wildcats with 25 digs, 13 assists, eight kills and she and two others each had four aces. Later Saturday in non-conference play against Gwynedd Mercy University, Penn College lost, 0-3 (24-26, 18-25, 22-25). Coldsmith had 19 digs, 17 assists and four aces as the Wildcats dropped to 2-7 overall.
