Former WACC/Penn College Administrator Named to Statewide Post in Oregon

James E. MiddletonJames E. Middleton, who served as chief academic officer during the transformation of Williamsport Area Community College into Penn College, has been appointed to a statewide postsecondary position in Oregon. Retiring in September after a decade as Central Oregon Community College president, Middleton will assume duties as interim commissioner for community college services and director of Oregon's Department for Community Colleges and Workforce Development. He fulfilled a variety of roles during his 11-year tenure at WACC and Penn College, including director of integrated studies, dean and vice president of academic affairs. Between Williamsport and Oregon, he served for 10 years as president of the College of Marin in California.
