Five Spring Athletes Nab Post-Season Honors

Five Pennsylvania College of Technology spring sports athletes have received post-season awards.
In baseball, pitcher Stan Bair, a graduate of Dover High School, was named to all-star teams in both the Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association (which is considered an all-state honor) and Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference. Bair posted a 4-1 record on the season.
Other baseball players earning all-EPCC honors were sophomore T.J. Stevens, a shortstop from East Stroudsburg, and freshman Shawn Smith, an outfielder from North Pocono.
"Stan was our leading pitcher and the key to our staff," said Wildcat Coach Mike Stanzione. Commenting on Stevens and Smith, the coach said, "T.J. batted .311 for the year and had a .987 fielding percentage. He was one of the best shortstops I've ever had. Shawn batted .348 for the year and was my top hitter."
In women's tennis, Michal Wolf, a sophomore from Hughesville, and Tonya Strouse, a freshman from Central Mountain, were named to all-star teams in both the Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association and Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference.
Wolf and Strouse formed the Wildcats' doubles team and captured the state championship.
"I knew the caliber of play that was in the league and I saw that these girls were above that and I knew that they'd have a pretty good shot at taking the championship. Expectations were met," said their coach, Charlie Baum, following the season-ending tournament.
