Five Honored at Baseball, Softball Senior Ceremonies

On a sunny Sunday afternoon, the Penn College baseball and softball teams honored five graduating members from its 2014 teams.  Baseball honored Cody and Zachary Buterbaugh and Joshua Longsderff while softball paid tribute to Rachael Shaeffer and Kimberly Walter.



Seniors Joshua Longsderff (6), Cody (19) and Zachary Buterbaugh (21) join their parents near the first-base line for a Bowman Field tribute Sunday.Cody Buterbaugh is a Building Automation Technology major from Conestoga.  He has been a four-year member of the team racking up an impressive .380 career batting average with 89 RBI and 40 stolen bases.

Zachary Buterbaugh is an accounting major from Conestoga.  He has been with the team for three years totaling a .398 career batting average with 63 RBI and eight saves on the mound.

Joshua Longsderff is a residential construction technology and management major from Columbia.  In his four years on the team, he has a .257 batting average with 52 RBIs.  On the mound, he has a career 3.65 ERA with 115 strikeouts and a .256 opposing batting average.

Hughes, coordinator of intercollegiate athletics and sports information)Rachael Shaeffer is a forest technology major from Hampstead, Md.  In two years, she has batted .309 with 24 RBIs and a .423 slugging percentage while totaling 206 putouts behind the plate.

Kimberly Walter is an Early Childhood Education major from Beavertown.  As a two-year member of the team, she has a .217 career batting average with five RBIs.  On the mound, she has recorded six wins with a 7.18 ERA.

Both teams swept their respective doubleheaders Sunday.
