First Week in September Designated 'College Town Week'

Representatives of Williamsport's three institutions of higher education join city Mayor Mary B. Wolf and Williamsport%2FLycoming Chamber of Commerce officials for the kickoff of 'College Town Week.'Mayor Mary B. Wolf has proclaimed the first week in September as "College Town Week," officially kicking off a celebration ofWilliamsport's centers of higher learning.

Student leaders from all three − Pennsylvania College of Technology, Lycoming College and Newport Business Institute − enjoyeda College Town Reception on Thursday night with City Council, an opportunity to mingle with community leaders and attend the council meeting.

The proclamation comes amidst more than a week full of fun events planned for the first "College Town Week" celebration in Williamsport, which began Wednesday with the Penn College Student Organization Fair and the Lycoming College Student Involvement Fair.

This event-filled week is designed to help celebrate Williamsport as a "College Town," working in conjunction with the College Town Friday"Taste of Williamsport" during First Friday Celebration 6-9 p.m., Downtown Williamsport

TuesdayPenn College/College Town Pack the Park Night Gates open at 6 p.m., game starts at 7:05 p.m. Bowman Field

WednesdayPenn College Student Government Association meeting 7 p.m., Penn's Inn (Bush Campus Center, second floor)

Sept. 9Penn College Campus Event with FREE ice cream! 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Campus Center
