The Financial Aid Office at Pennsylvania College of Technology will offer two free sessions on the main campus in Williamsport in November and January to help students, prospective students and families complete the 2017-18 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Both sessions will be offered in Room SASC/1049 on the first floor of Penn College's Student and Administrative Services Center (the building adjacent to the large American flag at the college’s main entrance off Maynard Street).

The first session will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5. Attendees will be invited to complete and submit their 2017-18 FAFSAs using the center’s computers before the session ends at 12:30 p.m.

During the second session, to be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25, Financial Aid Office staff will be available from 4:30 to 7 p.m. At both sessions, the staff will assist attendees as needed with the online FAFSA completion process.

The FAFSA is required by colleges and universities to determine if students are eligible for federal and state grants, student and parent loans, and scholarships.

The primary goal of the sessions is to assist individuals and families in completing the FAFSA accurately so that funds can be made available to students pursuing higher education. Parents and students attending any college or university are invited to receive this free assistance.

All attendees who plan to submit a FAFSA during a session should create a student and/or parent FSA ID at least three days prior to the session. Attendees should also bring copies of their 2015 financial documents including federal tax returns, W-2 forms, untaxed income statements, child support paid or received amounts, as well as amounts for their current assets.

Most student and parent taxpayers will be eligible to use the time-saving IRS Data Retrieval process during the sessions.

Students who are 23 or younger should attend with a parent or guardian.

“I am pleased that our staff is again able to offer this opportunity and provide personal service for our prospective and current students to ensure they are maximizing their financial aid resources,” said Dennis Correll, associate dean for enrollment management at Penn College.

Registration is required for the FAFSA completion sessions. For more information – or to register for either event – visit online, call the Financial Aid Office at 570-327-4766, or email.
