The Financial Aid Office at Pennsylvania College of Technology will offer two free sessions on the main campus in Williamsport in March and April to help students, prospective students and families complete the 2014-15 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Both sessions will be held in Room 1049 of Penn College's Student & Administrative Services Center (the building adjacent to the large American flag at the college’s main entrance off Maynard Street).

The first session will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 22.  Attendees will be invited to complete and submit their 2014-15 FAFSAs using the center’s computers before the session ends at 12:30 p.m.

During the second session, on Tuesday, April 8, Financial Aid Office staff will be available from 4:30 to 7 p.m. At both sessions, the staff will assist attendees as needed with the online FAFSA completion process.

The FAFSA is required by colleges and universities to determine if students are eligible for federal and state grants, student and parent loans, and scholarships.

The primary goal of the sessions is to assist individuals and families in completing the FAFSA accurately so that funds can be made available to students pursuing higher education. Parents and students attending any college or university are invited to receive this free assistance.

All attendees who plan to submit a FAFSA during a session should bring copies of their 2013 financial documents including federal tax returns, W-2 forms, untaxed income statements, child support paid or received amounts, as well as amounts for their current assets.

In addition, families that submit their federal tax returns electronically two to three weeks prior to the FAFSA sessions will, in most cases, be eligible for the time-saving IRS Data Retrieval process

Students who are 23 or younger should attend with a parent or guardian.

“I am pleased that our staff is again able to offer this opportunity and provide personal service for our prospective and current students to ensure they are maximizing their financial aid resources,” said Candace Baran, financial aid director at Penn College.

Registration is required for the FAFSA completion sessions. For more information – or to preregister for either event – call the Financial Aid Office at 570-327-4766 or email.
