Faculty Member Performs Variety of Duties at Economic Conference

An associate professor of business administration at Pennsylvania College of Technology was among the presenters at the 72nd International Atlantic Economic Conference recently held in Washington, D.C.
Gerald D. "Chip" Baumgardner, a faculty member in the college's School of Business and Computer Technologies, presented a paper titled "Successful Cooperative Learning Strategies for the Economics Class" during the conference.
The paper allowed Baumgardner to share information gained while conducting various cooperative-learning exercises in a number of classes and is a culmination of work obtained through activities with the American Economic Association. Similar ideas were shared in June at an AEA event in Palo Alto, Calif.
He additionally served as a judge for the Best Undergraduate Paper competition and chaired a session on "Entrepreneurship, Business Environment and Corporate Strategy."
The keynote speaker for the event was Alan Greenspan, who chaired the Federal Reserve Board from 1987-2006.
Baumgardner holds a doctorate from George Mason University, master's degrees from The Pennsylvania State University and Shippensburg University, and a bachelor's degree from Penn State.
