Faculty Member Appointed to National Advisory Council

A faculty member in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Business and Computer Technologies has been named to an advisory council formed to foster the development and growth of information-technology professionals.
Nicholas A. Vonada, an associate professor of computer science at Penn College, recently was appointed to the COMMON Americas Advisory Council of the COMMON Education Foundation. The foundation works with IBM Partners in Education to underwrite a variety of educational programs and provide training, both to those preparing to enter the field and to those who educate the next generation of IT professionals.
Vonada frequently has been invited to participate in (and most recently instruct at) the IBM Partners in Education Summer School series for advanced education in control language system programming, administration and certification for IBM iSeries AS/400 instructors at the IBM training facility in Rochester, Minn.
He gave a presentation on iSeries/400 education at the IBM-sponsored international COMMON users' conference in Toronto from Oct. 16-24. Next month, he will present a paper on "Human Computer Interaction in Modern Education" at ISECON 2004 (the Information Systems Education Conference) in Newport, R.I. Upon student nomination, Vonada also was selected for the 2003 and 2004 editions of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers."
