The opposing squad responded halfway through the first half, with Jake Tully scoring to tie the game. He struck again five minutes later to put the students up 2-1, but Derrick Winters answered with two goals in two minutes to give the staff/faculty team a 3-2 edge at halftime. Rafael Correa joined the scoring party with 10 minutes left, tying the game at 3. "The final few minutes of regulation saw both teams get great scoring chances," intramural assistant Jeremy R. Bottorf said, "but the game went into sudden-death overtime." Rybak, who apparently decided it was up to him to send the staff/faculty team home happy, connected on a laser from half court to win 4-3. "The game was intense, and both sides really wanted to pick up the win," said Bottorf, who thanked all who played and Chris Brennan for refereeing. Rybak and Winters were joined on the staff/faculty team by Michael Richards, Dale Jaenke, Carlos Ramos, Shawn McGehean, Josh Young and Chris Goodwin. Correa's and Tully's student teammates were Jake Wanamaker, Tim Stasulli, Mike Wagner and Ashley Martin.
