Early Childhood Education Professor Chosen for 'Who's Who'

Billie A. Coffman, associate professor of early childhood education at Pennsylvania College of Technology, will be honored in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers."
Coffman's biography will appear in the 10th edition of the book, to be published later this year.
Teachers who are honored in the book have been nominated by a former student. Students listed in "Who's Who Among American High School Students," "Who's Who Among American High School Students Sports Edition" and "The National Dean's List" are invited to nominate a former teacher who has contributed significantly to their success and growth.
Coffman has taught at Penn College since 1989, when she was hired as the college's first full-time faculty member for its early childhood education associate-degree program to develop its core courses.
She holds a master's degree from The Pennsylvania State University and a bachelor's degree from Lock Haven University. She is pursuing a doctorate from Penn State.
Coffman has been involved with developing training for early childhood educators in Lycoming, Centre, Clinton, Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union counties through Pennsylvania Pathways since the state program's inception in 1992. She has been a textbook reviewer for Delmar Publishers, of Albany, N.Y., since 1989.
Among other awards, Coffman was named Early Childhood Educator of the Year in 2001 at the Central Susquehanna Association for the Education of Young Children Annual Conference.
More than 30 full- and part-time faculty members at Penn College will be profiled in the 10th edition of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers."
