Buying or receiving a drone quadcopter this holiday season? Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology is offering a timely two-session Drone Quadcopter Technology course in January.

Participants will explore the fundamentals of quadcopter/unmanned aerial system theory and operation; familiarize themselves with basic quadcopter control theory through hands-on activities; and learn about Federal Aviation Administration regulations and how they apply to the operation of model aircraft, both as a hobby and on a for-hire basis.

Students are encouraged to bring their drones to the final class, which includes an indoor flying session. Participants should enroll in the classroom session (Part 1) and one of the hands-on flying sessions (Part 2):

  • Classroom Session: Drone (Quadcopter) Technology – Part 1
    Tuesdays, Jan. 12 and 19, 6 to 8 p.m.; the cost is $169

  • Hands-on Flying Session: Drone (Quadcopter) Technology – Part 2
Participants should select Session 1 (10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 23) or Session 2 (1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23). There is no additional cost for Part 2, however, completion of Part 1 is a prerequisite for attending Part 2.
