Donations to The Cupboard appreciated

The Cupboard at Penn CollegeDonations are always welcomed at The Cupboard at Penn College, an on-campus food pantry, including items that aren’t food. In March, The Cupboard was grateful to receive a donation by the Student Nurses’ Association of over 75 health and beauty products.

The Cupboard provides aid to Penn College students who may be having a difficult time purchasing enough food to avoid hunger for themselves and their families.

Even though the health and beauty products are not food, “it is such a nice bonus when they can grab a bottle of shampoo or a new toothbrush,” noted Vicki K. Killian, Dining Services’ retail manager who oversees The Cupboard.

In January, The Cupboard moved to a larger location in the Bush Campus Center. The new space has enabled expanded offerings at the pantry, including both perishable and nonperishable items.

The Cupboard is in the Bush Campus Center, just outside the Wildcat Express, and can be accessed by request at the CC Commons cashier station across the hall from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Fridays, or on Sundays by visiting the Office of Student Engagement’s CC information desk for assistance.

Dining Services offers this free and confidential service to all current Penn College students, who can visit The Cupboard once a week for a need-based allotment of food. During the Fall 2020 semester, The Cupboard supported a total of 159 individuals in 82 households.
