Reaching skyward Workers rise to meet challenge Visible progress on multiple fronts Stacked on scaffolding, work crew applies exterior finishAs construction crews keep pace for this fall's occupancy of Dauphin Hall, Penn College's newest student-housing complex, Andrew M. Richardson, construction manager, provided this summary of on-site work: Curtain-wall and room-window installations continue, as does the Exterior Insulation Finishing System (with the final color being applied and the split-face masonry nearly complete). Masons are finishing the trash enclosures and soon will begin the brick for the new guardhouse and entry-gate piers. Painting of interior block is ongoing, and work continues on soffits and coffered ceilings in common areas and corridors. Ceilings have been started on a few floors and carpet installation is about to begin. The final areas of thermoplastic polyolefin roofing are under completion, curbing and parking-lot islands are proceeding, and concrete pads and walks are in the works. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractors are busy with "rough-in" and prep work for finishes. The complex is part of the college's Stage X building program, which also includes renovations to the Hager Lifelong Education Center, Parkes Automotive Technology Center and Avco-Lycoming Metal Trades Center/Machining Technologies.
