Daniel G. Curtin Named Penn College ‘Student of the Month’

Daniel G. Curtin, a manufacturing engineering technology major from Berwick, has been chosen as the February Student of the Month at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Affiliated with the Bison Battalion, the Bucknell University-based ROTC program that includes Penn College, Curtin served two years as captain of the Color Guard team and one term as president of Cadet Council. He has also participated (among other activities) in the Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency program to Thailand, the Cadet Leadership Course, Drill Cadet Leadership Training, and the Scabbard and Blade Society.
“Daniel is a dedicated, outstanding and caring student,” his faculty/staff nominator said. “He was instrumental in securing room-and-board scholarships for ROTC cadets and Military Science course credit through his direct coordination with the president, Admissions Office, Registrar’s Office and the campus provost.” Curtin is scheduled to graduate in May as a commissioned Army officer and will immediately begin serving his country.
Outside ROTC, he is a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and has been a volunteer Little League Baseball umpire for seven years.
Student of the Month recognition is bestowed by the Student Government Association numerous times each academic year based on nominees’ commitment, service, role-model behavior, academics, leadership and campus involvement.
