Crime Alert: Former Student Reports Being Assaulted Near Campus

A 19-year-old female, who formerly attended Penn College, reported being grabbed and forced by an unknown, "college-age" white male, who she said was carrying a knife, to an off-campus apartment, where she said she was sexually assaulted. The incident reportedly occurred while the woman was walking on Vine Avenue on Sunday, Aug. 19, at approximately 6 p.m.

The woman said she was able to get away from the assailant early Monday. She reported the incident to Penn College Police at 2 p.m. Monday. There is no other description of the assailant available at this time. Penn College Police have referred the victim to the Williamsport Bureau of Police and local counseling services.

Penn College Police remind everyone to be security conscious at all times and alert for suspicious persons and dangerous situations. At night, walk only on well-lighted streets and pathways. Walk with a friend and/or call Penn College Police for an escort to any on-campus or off-campus location in the immediate area of the College. Report any incidents or concerns immediately to Penn College Police.
