Construction Management Faculty Members Establish Scholarship

Members of the Construction Management faculty at Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Construction and Design Technologies have established an annual scholarship for students enrolled in the bachelor-degree program.
The Construction Management Scholarship will be awarded to a student selected by the financial-aid officer in conjunction with the Construction Management Program Advisory Committee and faculty.
Recipients of the scholarship must be enrolled as a full-time student in the Construction Management major at sophomore status or greater; consideration will be given to continuing students in subsequent years.
Applicants also must provide evidence attesting to their student-organization activity, their commitment to the construction industry, their work ethic and their demonstration of leadership while enrolled as a student at the College.
"The students enrolled in the Construction Management major are a dynamic and driven group," said Wayne R. Sheppard, instructor of building construction technology and management. "They have competed regionally and nationally over the past several years and have done very well in representing themselves, the major and the school.
"What they have done is nothing short of exceptional. Unfortunately, there have been few opportunities specifically geared toward their education when it comes to scholarships. The faculty felt that they needed to spearhead this scholarship to encourage current and future students. Alumni, including myself, have long been supportive of establishing this and other opportunities for recognition and assistance."
Dennis L. Correll, executive director of the Penn College Foundation, added: "Penn College is fortunate to have faculty who are not only committed to students' education, but also to their success in the long term. Having the faculty start a scholarship fund to assist those students goes well beyond the call of duty."
