With Halloween just five days away, consider these tips for Greening Your Halloween: 1.) Reduce or eliminate excess or unnecessary indoor lighting. 2.) Donate to a cause or exchange coupons instead of giving treats. 3.) Reuse your pumpkin. Scoop and roast the seeds, cook and eat the rest, or compost. 4.) Make your own costume! Invent, use what you have or borrow. And stay safe to enjoy a new season and month as we "fall back" (change clocks) and begin November. This week's tip is from Penn College's Energy Conservation Subcommittee, which co-sponsors the venture with the School of Natural Resources Management's Horticulture Department. Contacts for the feature are Gail B. Landers, group leader at the Children's Learning Center and a subcommittee representative, and Carl J. Bower Jr., horticulture instructor.
